ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Jewel Hale, a native of the Southwest side of Chicago, is an interdisciplinary artist educator and CHW serving as the program coordinator for Lit Feelings, a non-profit organization committed to advancing literacy, well-being, and creative expression. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Studies, a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts, and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, she is certified in mental health first aid, mindfulness, social-emotional learning (SEL), and yoga. With over eight years of experience in youth development, Jewel has demonstrated expertise in her field. She also possesses a Community Health Care Worker certification from Malcolm X College.

Jewel is a dedicated educator who merges interdisciplinary art practices with social-emotional learning to enrich educational institutions and empower students. With extensive experience teaching social-emotional learning across Chicago and working with various non-profits, she has a deep passion for her work and the youth she serves. Firmly believing that education is the cornerstone of a prosperous future, Jewel is committed to fostering the growth and development of Chicago's youth. Her passion for learning, coupled with her collaborative spirit, enables her to educate and mentor youth in reaching their fullest potential.

Currently, she works for the Chicago Department of Public Health and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events as a Creative Health Practitioner. In this role, she leads creative wellness workshops catering to youth and adults. Her workshops incorporate a range of creative modalities, breathwork, and mindfulness as therapeutic techniques to elevate the holistic wellness of Chicago residents citywide
